Here at the British Oak we invite you to eat, drink and enjoy the atmosphere of our traditional pub less than a mile from the M1 at Junction 39 on the road towards Denby Dale.

Set in a beautiful country setting just outside Wakefield we pride ourselves on our quality home cooked food and friendly yet efficient service.

Serving from 12 noon til 9.30pm every day, our extensive menu offers traditional favourites such as homemade meat & potato pie along with  popular dishes from around the world, not forgetting our Mighty Oak Mixed Grill!  Children are catered for with their own section, and we also have vegetarian and gluten free dishes. Booking is advised for evenings and weekends.

On Sundays we have a Traditional Roast option that runs alongside our regular menu – ensuring that there is something for everyone.

Inside you’ll find a traditional English pub layout with a large restaurant and ‘snug’ area at the rear.  We have a range of traditional cask ales with changing guest beers and a good selection of bottled and draft lagers and ciders.

Just outside the rear of the pub we have a heated smoking shelter with tables and chairs for the comfort of our smoking customers. We also have a large garden area, for outdoor drinking and dining and a newly installed childrens play area, featuring the British Oak ’Pirate Ship’ with swings and slide.
